The Physician’s at Discovery Pediatrics have carefully reviewed the approach to all vaccinations. Our vaccination schedule is the current guidelines set forth by the Centers of Disease Control(CDC). Immunizations are critical in order to prevent disease among the general population. Vaccines have had such great success that many families have never seen anybody with polio, measles, whooping cough, or bacterial meningitis. Unfortunately, the providers at our practice have seen tragic results from those who contract vaccine preventable disease. Often times, we have patients in the office who are too young to receive certain vaccinations or too sick(such as chemotherapy) are at risk at contracting a vaccine preventable disease from the unvaccinated. Vaccines have been proven, through years of research to be safe and prevent diseases that might otherwise cause serious illness or even death. We understand that vaccinating your child is a complex decision but at Discovery Pediatrics we believe in the research and the proven results of vaccinations. We highly encourage you to ask the providers any questions or concerns you have regarding all childhood vaccinations. If after discussing with the providers, you feel you cannot follow the CDC vaccination guidelines, we request that you find a provider who is better suited for your family.
